- Select 2023 Honda CB300R recalled
- Likely to have improperly made engine crankcase
- Oil sealing plug may come off
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has issued an official voluntary recall for select units of the 2022 CB300R. The company has clarified in its release that the right crankcase cover of these CB300Rs may have been manufactured inappropriately. This may cause the sealing plug to come loose due to the heat-induced low retention force. If the sealing plug comes off, the engine oil may splash out and set the hot parts of the bike on fire. It might also result in the oil coming in contact with the tyre and reducing grip; the hot oil, if splashed on the rider’s body, might also cause serious injuries.
Through call, email, or SMS, Honda will contact the customers of the CB300R who should visit their nearest BigWing dealership and get their motorcycles inspected. Customers can also visit BigWing’s official website, submit their bike’s vehicle identification number (VIN), and check if their CB300R is a part of the recall. Notably, the replacement of affected parts at dealerships across India starts from 15 April, 2023. Also, this replacement will be free of cost even if the warranty period of the bike has ended.
Honda launched the 2022 CB300R in January last year with multiple updates. The bike received an altered exhaust canister, new colour options, a slightly tweaked engine for lesser emissions, non-Showa USD forks, and the inclusion of MRF RevZ tyres. It comes powered by a 286cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that is mated to a six-speed gearbox and produces 31.1bhp and 27.5Nm of peak torque. Weighing just 146kg, the CB300R boasts an impressive power-to-weight ratio and is a hoot to ride spiritedly.
