- Limited-edition Ducati Panigale V2 Bayliss gets special livery
- To be available in limited numbers
- Powered by the same engine as the standard model
Ducati Motors has revealed a limited-edition variant of its Panigale V2 motorcycle for the international markets. The variant of the supersport motorcycle, christened as the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary, will be available in limited numbers. This model pays homage to the legendary career of Troy Bayliss, and celebrates the first of the three World SBK titles won by the Australian rider.
This edition gets a special livery with graphics inspired by that of the 996 R which in the 2001 season powered Bayliss to his first world title. The base paint is a Ducati Red while the green and white colours pay tribute to the Italian spirit of the company. The motorcycle also features the number 21 (Troy Bayliss' race number), Shell logo, and Troy's autograph on the fuel tank. The billet aluminium triple clamp shows the progressive numbering of this model.
The hardware on the Panigale V2 Bayliss 1st Championship 20th Anniversary edition includes Ohlins NX30 front forks, a TTX36 rear shock absorber, and a steering damper. This special edition is also three kilograms lighter than the standard version. The lower weight has been achieved through a lithium-ion battery and a single-seater configuration. The company will offer passenger seat and footrests as optional extras. Other components include sport grips, silencer outlet cover in carbon fibre and titanium, and the rider seat with double red stitching. The number 21 is embroidered in white on the saddle.
The mechanical specifications are identical to the standard Panigale V2. The 955cc, twin-cylinder engine makes 152.8bhp at 10,750rpm and 104Nm of peak torque at 9,000rpm. The electronic package includes cornering ABS, a bi-directional quickshifter, traction control, wheelie control, and three riding modes (Race, Sport, and Street).
The India launch details are unavailable yet, although we may see a few units of this motorcycle on our shores.
