Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has commenced the exports of its Made-in-India 125cc premium commuter motorcycle, the SP125 to Australian and New Zealand markets. This motorcycle, which is currently being manufactured at the company’s Tapukara Plant in Alwar, Rajasthan, will be exported to these markets via the CBU route and will be sold as the CB125F.
The company added in its press statement that the shipment carrying around 250 units of the SP125 will be dispatched to Australia and New Zealand from July 2022 onwards. Speaking about this development, Atsushi Ogata, Managing Director, President and CEO, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, said that this development marks a step towards HMSI’s long term plans to expand production capabilities in India that serve globally.
The Australian and New Zealand-spec SP125 will be similar to the Indian model. Thus, it will pack features such as a fully digital meter that shows information about the distance to empty, average fuel efficiency, and real-time fuel efficiency. It will also pack an LED headlamp, engine start/stop switch, integrated headlamp beam/pass switch, an eco-indicator, and a gear position indicator.
The Indian arm of the Japanese manufacturer started exports in 2001 with its debut model, the Activa. Currently, the company exports to 38 markets led by Asia and Oceania, Middle East, and Latin America.
