- Cost significantly more than India
- Powered by the same 162.7cc engine
- Gets slightly different styling
The Honda Unicorn witnessed massive success in India and other Asian countries in the commuter segment. And now, Honda has also expanded the Unicorn’s availability to Nigeria. The brand recently launched the bike, and it differs from the one sold here.
The Honda Unicorn launched in Nigeria gets a slightly different fascia. It resembles the SP125’s unit. Apart from that, the bike gets a very practical design with a bulb headlight, a single-piece seat with a grab rail, and bulb indicators.
It’s powered by the same 162.77cc single-cylinder engine with the output rated at 12.7bhp and 14Nm. The engine is mated to a five-speed gearbox and nestled in a diamond-type frame. The latter is suspended on conventional USD front forks and a monoshock. Meanwhile, the braking hardware comprises a single front disc and rear drum brake. The bike rides on alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres. The Unicorn gets a three-pod instrument cluster and all units are analog. Apart from that, it also features ABS for safety.
Honda has priced the Unicorn in Nigeria at NGN 14,00,000 (approximately Rs 2.50 lakh sans taxes). That’s more than twice the Honda Unicorn’s price in India – Rs 1.05 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
