Marc Marquez has posted the fastest time recorded on a motorcycle, on the third day of the pre-season testing at the Sepang International Circuit, in Malaysia. Marquez posted a lap time of 1.58.867, which is significantly faster than the previous record time of 2.01.150, which the 21-year-old Spaniard had set at the Grand Prix race in October, last year.
Marquez’s teammate Dani Pedrosa had an equally impressive day as he came in second, closing the gap with his teammate to a miniscule 0.139 seconds. The top three was completed by Ducati Team’s Iannone Andre, who clocked a 1.59.388. Seven-time MotoGP champion Valentino Rossi came in fourth with a 1.59.401 while his teammate clocked 1.59.624, coming in fifth.
Marquez rode three different bikes at Sepang –the championship winning 2014 bike, the bike he rode during testing at Valencia and a new ‘compromise bike’. The compromise bike carried some alterations which Marquez had asked for, after the tests in Valencia.
