Ahmedabad-based startup, Matter Motor, recently launched its maiden product, the Aera 5000. It is available in two variants – standard and +. We spent a day riding the Matter Aera 5000+ and here is our take on it.
The Matter Aera 5000+ looks sizable and has adequate proportions. Its design is futuristic and the bodywork gets cuts and creases, making the Aera 5000+ look sporty.
Matter offers the Aera 5000+ in five colour options – Cosmic Black, Cosmic Blue, Glacier White, Blaze Red, and Nord Grey.
Powering the Matter Aera 5000+ is a 10kW motor linked to a 5kWh battery. Moreover, Matter has equipped the Aera 5000+ with a four-speed gearbox too.
Then, there are three ride modes – Eco, City, and Sport. Matter has also offered a host of features including liquid cooling, Bluetooth connectivity, remote lock/unlock, live location tracking, push navigation, geo-fencing, ride statistics, park assist (reverse mode), keyless operation, auto indicator turn off, call/music control, OTA updates, specification sheet, and more.
With the inclusion of the clutch and gearbox, the Matter Aera 5000+ feels more engaging as an electric two-wheeler. Its usage is quite simple as you just have to hold the clutch in to engage the gear and release it slowly to move further.
But strangely, the bike doesn’t stay stationary on a slope even when engaged in gear. It moves further or backward freely and you will need to press either of the brakes.
The rider triangle of the Matter Aera 5000+ is similar to that of the TVS Apache. You sit slightly forward set, but comfortable, with the footpegs being rear set. It is a mix of sporty and commuter riding posture.
The asking price of the Matter Aera 5000+ is Rs. 1,83,999 (ex-showroom, Ahmedabad). Now, this isn’t cheap by any means. So should you spend your hard-earned money on the Matter EV? Read our first ride review of the Aera 5000+ to get your answer.
