- Powered by a 10.5kW motor
- Features a liquid-cooled 5kWh battery
- Gets three ride modes and other features
Matter has finally launched its first product in India, the Aera electric motorcycle. It’s priced at Rs 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom PAN India, including FAME II subsidy) and will be available in four trims: Aera 4000, Aera 5000, Aera 5000+, and the Aera 6000+. Here’s what we know about it.
The Matter EV gets a very youthful and practical design overall. It features an LED headlight, clip-on handlebars, and a split seat setup. The tank shrouds and the overall design are quite sharp thereby giving this electric motorcycle proportions of an ICE two-wheeler. Even the alloy design is quite unique.
Matter has powered the Aera 5000 range with a 10kW motor linked to a liquid-cooled 5kWh battery. It gets a maximum claimed range of 125km. Matter claims that the Aera 5000’s battery can be fully charged in five hours using a regular charger setup. However, the same reduces to two hours using a fast charger. It even features a four-speed manual shift lever mated to the motor setup.
On the feature front, the Matter EV gets a TFT screen to toggle around the essential data like range, speed, trip meter, odometer, battery level, ride modes, smartphone connectivity, and more. The console gives you access to navigation, calls/message alerts, as well as riding statistics. Further, Matter has equipped the bike with OTA, keyless operation, and a small storage unit.
Its hardware comprises conventional telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks. Meanwhile, the braking hardware comprises a single front and rear disc with ABS/CBS. It rides on 17-inch alloys wrapped in road-biased tyres.
Matter is currently looking to expand its operations in its hometown first followed by other cities. Official bookings are likely to commence in a month’s time from now. The Aera 5000 retails at Rs 1,43,999 and the Aera 5000+ costs Rs 1,53,999 (both ex-showroom PAN India, including FAME II). However, these are introductory prices and are subject to change in the future.
