The Chinese two-wheeler market is well known for notoriously mocking original designs from various manufacturers. This time around, we’ve come across the Foshan MT, manufactured by China-based Foshan Muci Motorcycles.
On the design front, it blatantly copies Yamaha’s MT-15 and gets the same fascia. It features a central LED projector light with brow-like LED strips above. Even the sharp creases on the fuel tank and the tank shroud design has been mimicked.
Foshan offers the MT with three different motor sizes: 150cc, 200cc and 250cc. The smallest mill belts out 11.39bhp and 11.5Nm, meanwhile the 200cc motor develops 12.8bhp and 13.6Nm and the quarter-litre unit dishes 16.7bhp and 16.5Nm. On the feature front, the Chinese MT gets a fully digital display that houses basic readouts like the speedometer, odometer, fuel level and more.
It’s suspended on USD forks and a monoshock setup. Meanwhile the braking hardware comprises a front and rear disc sans ABS. The Foshan MT rides on 17-inch wheels.
In China, the Foshan MT retails between CNY 4,882 and CNY 5,885 (approximately Rs 57,000 to Rs 68,000). That’s less than half of MT-15 V2’s base price of Rs 1.61 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
