Mercedes-AMG acquires 25 per cent of MV Agusta

It is finally out! Daimler has announced that its Mercedes-AMG division has acquired 25 per cent stake in the Italian motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta. Both the companies have also signed a cooperation agreement on a long-term partnership.

Neither of them has disclosed the transaction amount but the rumours suggest that the deal stood at €30 million. The deal will be finalised towards the end of next month and Mercedes-AMG has announced that they will appoint one member to MV Agusta's board of directors. This acquisition will give MV Agusta enough finance to invest in their future products and research and development.

"Mercedes-AMG will help MV Agusta to further expand globally and to accelerate our growth. The uniqueness of MV Agusta will further enhance Mercedes-AMG’s leadership in the high-performance segment," said Giovanni Castiglioni, president and CEO, MV Agusta.

“In MV Agusta, we have found the perfect two-wheel partner for Mercedes-AMG. This manufacturer with a long tradition and Mercedes-AMG are connected not only by a long and successful racing history, but also by shared values and goals for the future – allowing the experience of utmost perfection, optimal performance and motorsport technology for the road. The cooperation with MV Agusta also underscores the importance of AMG as the sports-car and high-performance brand of Mercedes-Benz Cars. The partnership provides us with an entry into a world of additional high-performance enthusiasts,” said Tobias Moers, chief executive, Mercedes-AMG.

MV Agusta hasn’t disclosed any of the future plans but we expect the company will come out with their new future strategy at the EICMA event that will begin from tomorrow. Stay tuned as we will bring you all new bike launches from EICMA.
