- It is at least Rs 7,749 cheaper than the Xtec trim
- Gets simpler design and lesser features
- Engine remains the same
Hero MotoCorp has spiced up its scooter portfolio by launching the more affordable Prime variant of the Destini 125 in India. With a price tag of Rs 71,499, the Prime variant is Rs 7,749 and Rs 14,239 cheaper than the LX and VX versions of the Xtec model, respectively.
The design and features, or the lack of it, differentiate the Prime from the Xtec variant. The former has brought back the older styling of the scooter which looks simpler. The bodywork comprises a larger headlamp, body-coloured mirrors, single-piece grab rail, and a single-tone seat, as opposed to the Xtec’s chrome-finished mirrors, grab rail with a back rest, and a dual-tone seat. The Prime trim also misses out on Bluetooth connectivity and a front mobile charging port. However, it does incorporate an under seat charging port, an under seat lamp, auto start/stop feature, and a semi-digital console.
The Hero Destini 125 Prime also gets slightly more traditional hardware in the form of steel wheels, as against the alloy wheels in the Xtec. It rides on 10-inch rims that are suspended by telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. The braking setup, meanwhile, comprises a drum at both ends. The engine of the Prime edition remains unchanged though. It is powered by a 124.6cc, air-cooled engine that produces 9bhp and 10.36Nm and comes mated to a CVT gearbox. Further, it weighs 115kg and gets a fuel tank capacity of 5 litres.
The new Hero Destini 125 Prime is available in two colour options including Pearl Silver White and Nexus Blue Nobel Red.
