- KTM 1290 Super Adventure range to have three models
- Base version to weigh less and miss out on some features
- Could be globally launched in the coming months
After unveiling the 1290 Super Adventure R and S models globally, KTM is set to complete the range with an affordable base version.
The news comes from recent EU Type approval documents that reveal a few details of the upcoming adventure touring motorcycle. To begin with, the 1290 Super Adventure base version will have lesser weight. Weighing in at 240kg, the bike will be around 5kg lighter than the R and S models. This could be a result of the base model missing out on features like the semi-active suspension or the radar-powered cruise control system.
Powered by the same 1,301 cc, V-twin engine that churns out 158bhp and 138Nm- the same as the other two versions- there is no loss of performance on the KTM 1290 Super Adventure base version. In terms of styling, there aren’t going to many changes either.
Now, we can expect KTM to launch the motorcycle in global markets in the coming months, but it is unlikely to make its way to India. Instead, we can await the launch of the relatively more affordable 890 Adventure that is expected to make its way to our country later this year.
