- Revolt Motors working on a more affordable e-bike
- To replace the existing RV 300
- Likely to be called the RV1
Revolt Motors is working on a new electric motorcycle that will replace the existing RV 300. Likely to be christened the ‘RV1’, it will be considerably cheaper than the RV 400.
The new bike will go into production by January next year and by that time, the EV maker plans to phase out the RV 300. A part of this plan has already been executed as Revolt has sold its existing inventory of the RV 300 to Domino’s. The latter will be utilising the customised versions of the electric bike for their food delivery operations.
Revolt plans to manufacture the RV1 entirely in house at its Manesar plant with no parts to be sourced from outside. This will help the company in pricing the upcoming e-motorcycle competitively. The RV 300 and RV 400 are locally manufactured partly as some of their components are imported from China.
The RV1 will be slightly down on performance and battery range as compared to the RV 400. The latter can touch a top speed of 85kmph in Sport mode while its claimed battery range is up to 150km. We don’t expect Revolt to skimp on features and the RV1 might have the same amount of functions as the RV400. Details about the design of the former are not known yet.
With the local production and massive government subsidies being in place by central and a few state governments, we believe the Revolt RV1 will definitely be priced attractively, somewhere in the ballpark of Rs 70,000-75,000 (on-road).
