- More powerful Chetak e-scooter in the works
- Likely to be sold as KTM or Husqvarna scooter
- Should be ready by 2022-2023
Bajaj is working on a more powerful version of the Chetak e-scooter. This information was revealed by the top honcho of the company at a recent press conference held to conclude the 3000kms of Chetak Electric Yatra.
This upcoming e-scooter will develop more power and is likely to churn out more riding range. However, this electric scooter won’t be sold under Bajaj. It will be sold under the KTM or Husqvarna as these brands are known for performance oriented motorcycles. As the world is shifting towards green vehicles, it makes complete sense to sell the high-performance Chetak scooter under these brands with a new name. More power and more riding range will definitely attract higher costs and the only way to make this product work is by pricing it higher. The development of this e-scooter is at an early stage, so we can expect to see the production variant in the next 2-3 years.
The Chetak will go on sale early next year and is likely to cost around Rs 1 lakh. Bajaj doesn’t plan to setup its own charging infrastructure but would offer charging options for every Chetak buyer.
