- KTM 750cc range production to begin in China soon
- Is ikely to be unveiled in 2022
-To include Duke, Adventure, and Supermoto models
KTM has revealed that it is working on a 750cc platform that would include a 750 Duke, 750 Adventure as well as 750 Supermoto.
These motorcycles will be built in China in partnership with CFMoto; KTM’s sole distributor in the country. The deal is similar to the one KTM has with Bajaj in India wherein the latter retails relatively affordable motorcycles based on the KTM platform. Moreover, the Austrian brand has also announced that the production of these models will commence in the Chinese factory soon and we can expect them to be globally unveiled by 2022.
The whole idea behind KTM having a 750cc platform is rather simple. To begin with, the 790 Duke is likely to be shelved since KTM already has the 890 range. Then, there is the upcoming KTM 490cc parallel-twin range that will be produced in Bajaj’s plant in Chakan. So, the 750 range will serve as a bridge between the 490 and 890 models in global markets.
It will surely be more affordable than the 790 Duke with a lesser cost of materials and production. Although knowing KTM, it is unlikely to be under-equipped when it comes to technology. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see what KTM has in store with the 750cc range. And while it is early to comment, we can expect the motorcycles to make their way to India in the future.
