Now owning a Royal Enfield Classic 350 has got easier as the Chennai-based bike maker has introduced a more affordable version of the retro-styled tourer. Although yet to be officially launched, the new variant carries a price tag of Rs 1.47 lakhs, ex-showroom Kerala. At that price point, it is about Rs 6,300 cheaper than the standard Classic 350 model. As far as the model name is concerned, according to our sources, it will be called Classic 350X or Classic X350 (the former mostly), while a few dealers are calling it the Classic 350 S.
In order to put out an affordable price tag, Royal Enfield has skipped a few features/components from the Standard Classic 350. First up, unlike the regular bike which features dual-channel ABS, this model comes with only single-channel ABS for the front wheel. The rear gets a drum brake unit. Next is the use of blacked-out components over chrome to further save on costs. This includes the entire engine as well as the wheel rims. Besides that, like the recently launched Bullet 350 X, Royal Enfield has taken a similar approach and given the affordable Classic 350 variant a black base colour shade with a different coloured fuel tank. It even gets a rather simpler Royal Enfield badging on the tank. Apart from these changes, the motorcycle remains mechanically the same.
Royal Enfield is offering the new Classic 350 variant in two colour options- Pure Black and Mercury Silver. The new variant is currently available only in the southern region of the country, namely Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Expect, the rest of India to get the more affordable Classic 350 variant soon.
