The growth of scooter segment in India has been incredible. In fact, it has surpassed the bike market quite a few times and continues to show tremendous potential. This is why all the Indian two-wheeler manufacturers wants to have a presence in scooters, except Bajaj, of course. In January 2017, our most popular scooters gained a lot of curious research from potential Indian customers.
Rank 3: Honda Activa 125
This 125cc scooter has been able to sell decently in India because of the family it belongs to – the Activa. While there are better scooters in the 125cc segment, the Activa 125 has been able to hold its ground since the beginning. This scooter saw a good growth in January at 19 per cent over December 2016. The maximum interest for this scooter came from Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi. Customers from Hyderabad and Chennai also showed some interest on this scooter.
Rank 2: TVS Jupiter
The Jupiter has been able to get good sales to TVS month-on-month. Its value for money proposition and styling have helped be in demand all the time. It is the highest selling TVS scooter, which is also offered in disc brake version. The Jupiter has managed to get close to a lakh visits from the researchers and most of them are from Bengaluru, Pune and Delhi. Interestingly, customers from Mumbai aren’t showing a lot of interest on this scooter.
Rank 1: Honda Activa 3G
The Activa needs no introduction. It is the highest selling scooter in the country and has been able to maintain this rank since last many months now. With over 2 lakh visits, the Activa 3G fails to go down in the chart. The scooter saw 37 per cent increase in research in January as compared to December 2017. Researchers from Mumbai and Bengaluru were the most curious ones, followed by Hyderabad and Delhi.
