- Pegged as a classic enduro bike
- Design strikingly similar to the concept
- Powered by 80 horsepower V-twin
The final production design of the Moto Guzzi V85 has been revealed through leaked patent drawings. The adventure motorcycle might look similar to the concept shown at 2017 EICMA show, but it sports a couple of changes to make it production feasible.
The V85 is essentially a retro adventure bike with modern underpinnings. The patent drawings show that the production bike looks strikingly similar to the concept, although a closer inspection reveals a few differences. For one, it gets a longer end can and catalytic converter below the transmission to make it compliant with emission norms. The front brake callipers are also different. Even the bodywork is slightly different, with a narrower tank and a lower seat. This has probably been done to make the ergonomics more apt for off-roading.
The V85 gets all the characteristic adventure-bike styling cues like a tall stance, minimalistic bodywork, upswept exhaust, bash plate and knobby tyres. It is built around a tubular steel frame with a newly-developed 850cc transversely-mounted V-twin engine. This 80 horsepower engine will eventually be used in Moto Guzzi’s future range. We expect the production bike to debut at the 2018 EICMA Show later this year. It will compete against the likes of the BMW F850GS and the Triumph Tiger 800XCx. We do not expect it to be launched in India for another year at least.
