- To be available for global markets in January 2019.
- ‘Classic Enduro’ styling with new 850cc V-Twin engine.
- Is likely to arrive in India sometime next year.
Moto Guzzi had unveiled its adventure-touring motorcycle concept, the V85 at the 2017 EICMA in November. It has now confirmed that the bike will finally go into production this year.
The V85 sports styling cues and a white, yellow and red paint scheme inspired by Moto Guzzi’s Baja motorcycles from the 1980s.It rides on spoke wheels and is equipped with a tail rack, high mudguard, an upswept exhaust and fork protectors to boost its adventure-touring characteristics. It also gets twin headlamps that add to its classic appeal but consist of an LED strip in the shape of the manufacturer’s logo for a modern touch.
Powering the bike is a new 850cc V-Twin engine that will be the base for future Moto Guzzi motorcycles. This engine produces 80bhp which is a considerable increase over the power output of V9 Bobber and V9 Roamer sold here. The V9’s 853cc V-twin engine produces only 55bhp. The bike sports inverted forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear, both units sourced by Ohlins. It also gets an asymmetric swingarm that houses the new shaft drive transmission.
While the concept looked very much production-ready, Moto Guzzi will reveal the final version at the 2018 EICMA. It will go on sale in global markets from January 2019. We can expect the bike to arrive on Indian shores sometime next year.
