Moto Guzzi recently launched the V9 Roamer and V9 Bobber in the Indian market at Rs 13.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). While their price tags don’t exactly make them affordable, the V9 Roamer and V9 Bobber are the entry-level models in the Moto Guzzi’s Indian portfolio. Bigger and more powerful versions of the company’s most popular model – the V7 – the V9 Bobber and V9 Roamers share the market space with the likes of Triumph Bonneville, Ducati Monster 821 and the Indian Scout Sixty. The peanut shaped fuel tank, straight bar, round instrument clock and headlamp hark back to classic motorcycles from the 1970s.
The V9 Bobber and Roamer might look like retro motorcycles but are based on modern underpinnings to make them suitable for everyday use.
The V9 Bobber and Roamer are powered by the iconic transverse V-twin engine, which displaces 853cc and is mated to a six-speed transmission with a shaft final drive.
While the V9 Roamer gets chrome treatment for the wheels, exhaust and engine, these components are blacked out in the V9 Bobber.
Wheel size is also an important differentiating factor. The V9 Roamer rides on a 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheel, while the V9 Bobber gets 16-inch wheels on both ends.
The V9 Roamer and Bobber are offered with ABS, traction control, USB charging port and an immobilizer.
For braking, both motorcycles use a Brembo four-piston calliper with 320mm disc at the front and a two-piston calliper with 260mm disc for the rear.
With two versions on sale, customers can choose between the rather classic-looking V9 Roamer and the sinister V9 Bobber.
