-Jorge Martin finishes second
-Pedro Acosta crosses the line in third
-Pecco Bagnaia crashes out of the race
Marc Marquez is a Grand Prix winner after 1043 days. The eight-time world champion ended his race win draught at the Aragon GP by clinching victory dominantly. The Spaniard was untouchable throughout the weekend.
Mega Marquez!
Marc Marquez got off to a flying start as the lights went out and ensured none of his challengers were around him as he went into Turn One. Behind him, Jorge Martin on the Pramac Ducati and Pedro Acosta on the GasGas Tech 3 bike were engaged in a duel. They were so engrossed in their battles that they allowed Marquez to check out at the front.
Marquez looked like he was on rails, lapping quickly and consistently around MotoLand Aragon. At one point he was nearly five seconds ahead of Martin who was trying his best to stay in touch with Marquez after overtaking Acosta.
In the end, Marquez crossed the line first, 4.789s ahead of Martin while Acosta rose up to third after Pecco’s misfortune.
Pecco’s disaster
The Aragon GP was one to forget for Pecco Bagnaia as disaster struck again. Starting from P3 and the dirty part of the Grid, the Italian suffered excessive wheelspin at the start of the race. He fell down the order by a few places but unlike the Sprint, this time he was more determined to make his way up the order.
After half race distance, Pecco was closing in on Alex Marquez to grab the third spot on the podium. The pace was good and it looked like he would salvage some valuable points for his World Championship campaign.
And then, disaster struck. Alex Marquez ran wide while entering one of the corners, opening the door for Pecco to attack. As Pecco moved ahead and lined up for the next right hander, Alex was slightly on the inside of Pecco. The duo collided and crashed out of the race, much to the despair of Pecco who lost valuable points. He now sits 13 points behind Championship leader Jorge Martin.
The next three months are going to action-packed for MotoGP fans as there are several races lined up. The next round of the 2024 MotoGP World Championship will take place from 6 September to 8 September at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Misano, Italy.
