MotoGP organisers Dorna have signed a five-year deal with Finland to host a MotoGP round there from 2019 onward. It will be called the KymiRing, and is situated in a place called Itti. Initially the Finn round of MotoGP was scheduled to be added in 2017, but the Thailand round will be introduced next year, which has pushed the Finland round to 2019 onward.
The KymiRing is under construction at the moment but when completed will be a 4.5km long loop with 15 corners. It has been designed by ex-F1 driver Alex Wurz's company, Test & Training. It is the first time MotoGP will be held in Finland since 1982, when greats like Giacomo Agostini and Mike Hailwood won races at the Imatra GP. Expected attendance at the Finn round of MotoGP is around 100,000 - and the circuit reportedly isn't interested in bidding for the equivalent four-wheeled series, Formula 1, quoting prohibitive costs as the reason.
