-Could be the first or among the first few rounds
-Will be held at the Buddh International Circuit
-Fans promised a much better experience
The 2025 MotoGP Indian Grand Prix is confirmed in March 2025. Called the BharatGP, the race will take place at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The news was confirmed by Carlos Ezpeleta, Chief Sporting Officer at Dorna, the commercial rights holders of MotoGP.
The news comes hot on the heels of the recent signing of a three year contract between Dorna and the Uttar Pradesh Government, confirming that MotoGP will be held in India in 2025, 2026, and 2027.
However, speculation is rife that India may host the 2025 MotoGP World Championship opening round. Usually, the Championship opens in Qatar but as the holy month of Ramadan coincides with the time when the Championship begins, India is likely to host the opening round.
That said, Carlos stated that it is too early to confirm the same as the 2025 calendar is still not decided. If India hosts the opening ceremony, chances are that it will be the venue for the pre-season winter tests as well. That would certainly make up, in some way, for the Indian fans missing out on MotoGP action in 2024.
The organisers also promise a better and more refined experience for racegoers. As is the case with any big scale sporting event that takes place for the first time, there were a few last-minute hiccups and loose ends that needed to be tied down. With a lot of time in hand, the 2025 MotoGP should offer a seamless experience.
