Johann Zarco has had a dream start to his MotoGP run - leading his first-ever MotoGP race in Qatar before crashing out, and then finishing in great position, capping it off with a second place in Le Mans. He is currently the first independent rider in the championship.
It may seem a little surprising to some that a rider with such results chose to extend his contract this early in the season, but the Tech3 team is known for extending contracts with an eye on maximum exposure - Zarco's home Grand Prix was the perfect choice as far as media exposure was concerned.
His teammate Jonas Folger, also a rookie, is doing really well as well, and is expected to announce his contract extension at his home race, the Sachsenring.
