It's going to be a cracker of a race. Vinales made steady progress through qualifying, putting down a lap that put him P1, but as always, Valentino Rossi put in a late lap that was quicker than him by a tenth of a second. He got it back eventually, and Johann Zarco is in third place, completing the Yamaha front row lockout.
The second row has Cal Crutchlow in fourth, Marquez in fifth and Dovizioso sixth. Scott Redding had one of his better qualifying performances, at the head of the third row. Pol Espargaro brought home his KTM in eighth - the best-ever qualifying result for a KTM MotoGP machine so far. Pedrosa starts in 13th place, and Lorenzo, 16th.
The weather might still throw a spanner in the works - or Valentino Rossi might pull out some of his Sunday magic and outrun Vinales. Or even better, Johann Zarco will manage to give them a run for their money. Whatever happens, it's going to be a cracker of a race. That's for sure.
