Massimo Tamburini, the man who gave this world the Ducati 916, passed away on April 6, 2014 after a prolonged battle with cancer. Tamburini worked for all prominent Italian manufacturers like Ducati, MV Agusta, Cagiva and his own venture – Bimota, creating motorcycles that became legends.
The Italian designer had been obsessed with motorcycles as a child and had since dedicated his life to motorcycle designing. Tamburini was an advocate of exquisite motorcycle design calling it the ‘Italian way of design’ and summed up his design philosophy by saying, "The ideal one would be a 750 with the power of a 1000 and the weight of a 500. You don't need a huge amount of power on a road bike, but it's important to have light weight as well."
The Ducati 916, often called the most beautiful motorcycle ever built, was designed by Tamburini when the Italian marque was owned by Cagiva. Icons of today, the MV Agusta F4 , the MV F3 675 and the Brutale were brought to life by the genius of Tamburini’s design.
