After Benelli entered the Indian market earlier this year, another Italian manufacturer is gearing up for the India launch. MV Agusta is planning to start selling motorcycles in India as the premium bike segment in the country has seen a double digit in the last few months.
As per a report, the Italian manufacturer is currently talking to an Indian automotive company for a possible joint venture. While there isn’t much information on this, we believe it could be talking to Mercedes-Benz as the AMG division of the company holds 25 per cent stake in MV Agusta. Mercedes-Benz has a good hold in the Indian market, especially in the metro cities where it has more than one showroom. It will be a good idea to start selling MV Agusta from their showrooms or at least from their AMG performance centres.
If the agreement goes through, we can expect MV Agusta to bring their entire range to India via the completely-built-up (CBU) route. MV Agusta motorcycles are the most expensive ones worldwide, so we can expect it to ask for a super-premium price in India. Its bikes like the F3 800 and Rivale 800 are truly gorgeous and having these bikes on the Indian roads will be a good sight for sore eyes.
