MV Agusta is in the process of developing a new four-cylinder platform that will power their future motorcycles. This news was confirmed during the media briefing of the new Adventure Sport motorcycle from the Italian manufacturer.
The iconic motorcycle manufacturer feels that it has completely exhausted the market segments for the three-cylinder platform. The Turismo Veloce 800 is the last motorcycle to sport the three-cylinder engine configuration and the new ones will get the four cylinders. While the company is tight-lipped about its future models, one thing is confirmed that around four motorcycles are being readied for 2016. We can’t confirm right now if all the upcoming four motorcycles will get this new engine platform but we will surely know something about the new bikes once they are unveiled at the 2015 EICMA show.
The company is taking the same approach with the four-cylinder like they did it with the three-cylinder. They might first get something like the F3, followed by something like the Brutale 675. The last development phase could see an introduction of a new touring motorcycle that will go on sale in the latter half of 2016.
The Italian manufacturer hasn’t said anything concrete about their Indian presence, but we can expect them to start business in the country in the next few years. With Mercedes-Benz India having a good presence, they can at least start their Indian operations through the Mercedes-AMG performance centres.
