Mysterious Royal Enfield 650cc bike spotted testing!

- Has styling cues of the Bullet and Classic

- Powered by a 648cc twin-cylinder motor

- Spotted testing in Chennai

A new Royal Enfield test bike has recently been spied testing. But, compared to the spy shots seen so far, this one seems a little different. While it has a bodywork similar to the Classic 650, there are other styling cues hinting that Royal Enfield could be working on a Bullet 650 as well.

If you take a closer look at the seat, it’s a single-piece unit with a deep scoop for the rider. Even the rear sub-frame and tank looks like that on the Bullet. What’s more, the rear fender and the taillight looks borrowed from the new Bullet 350, which takes inspiration from the Classic. So, it won’t be a surprise if Royal Enfield decides to use a similar setup for the Bullet 650 as well. It’s unclear at the moment, however, whether this is the Bullet or another version of the Classic 650.

Since the Bullet brand holds a long legacy and a sentimental value too, it makes sense for Royal Enfield to bring a Bullet 650 and place it as the most affordable bike in the 650cc portfolio. It could provide a good entry point to the brand’s middleweight category which currently has the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650 and the Super Meteor 650

That said, Royal Enfield will use the same 648cc parallel-twin motor in this model, as it does for the above-mentioned trio. It dishes out 47bhp and 52Nm and is linked to a six-speed gearbox. Then, the hardware comprises telescopic front forks and dual rear shocks with a single front and rear disc brake mounted on spoke wheels.

Royal Enfield could equip it with a single-pod instrument console just like the Bullet. It would comprise a speedometer, odometer, trip meter and a fuel level read out too.

In its latest development, Royal Enfield has also been testing the Super Meteor 650 with bagger-style panniers. These are the same units that the brand displayed during the Royal Enfield Rider Mania 2022.
