Naked version of BMW S1000RR spied testing in Italy

A naked version of the BMW S1000RR has been spied testing by the team at Motociclismo in Italy. The German motorcycle maker had first hinted about developing a naked version of the S1000RR at the EICMA last year but did not provide any further details. However, this test mule is a sign that we may see the bike within the next year or so.

 The motorcycle that was spotted had black and white camouflage. It featured a half fairing and a different headlamp unit from the faired version giving it a passing resemblance to the the Aprilia RSV4 Tuono.

The bike will mostly use the same 999cc, transmission and suspension mill from the S1000RR. This engine produces 197bhp and xxx torque. But for the naked version, the Germans might detune the engine slightly and try not to make it as aggressive as the S1000RR. The handlebars might be changed to cover it from super-sport to more of upright riding position.

The naked version of the S1000RR might make its first public appearance in the EICMA 2013 event this year. The S1000RR is sold in India, so we expect the naked model to come to India as well after its global launch.
