Yamaha has unveiled the new MT-15 in India and is expected to launch the motorcycle sometime early next year. This 2020 model is expected to costs a premium of Rs 5,000 over the outgoing version which costs Rs 1.36 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
As part of the 2020 update, the MT-15 sports a new ‘Ice Fluo Vermillion’ colour which comprises of an attractive white and neon orange paint scheme. It is also available in the ‘Dark Matt Blue’ colour option that featured on the previous model. Furthermore, the new MT-15 is equipped with a side-stand engine cut off switch that prevents the motorcycle from cranking up with the stand is down. Yamaha has also fitted the motorcycle with a new radial tyre at the rear as standard.
The 2020 Yamaha MT-15 comes powered by a BS6-compliant version of the 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that also does duty on the new R15. This engine produces 18.3bhp of power and 14.1Nm of torque; down from 19bhp and 14.7Nm that the earlier model produced. Apart from these changes, the MT-15 remains the same mechanically. It ride on telescopic forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Meanwhile, braking hardware consists of a dual-disc setup with a single-channel ABS.
