- 2021 KTM RC 200 spied once again
- Could get a 250 Adventure-like LCD console
- Official launch expected to take place in a few weeks
Ever since we obtained an image of the new KTM RC 200 at Bajaj’s Chakan facility, we had been eagerly waiting for its official launch to take place. While that is yet to happen, the new RC 200 continues to be tested on public roads. One of these test mules was recently spotted, revealing details most of which we already know.
Although the spied unit was entirely camouflaged, we have already seen its design in the previous images. It looks more matured and less aggressive than the existing model. There’s an oblong-shaped headlamp that looks similar to the older 200 Duke. Meanwhile, the fairing, fuel tank and tail have also been re-designed. Accompanying the new styling will be a revised riding triangle which will be more comfortable. Notably, the upcoming RC 200 reportedly gets a clip-on handlebar fitted under the triple clamp that should allow minor adjustments.
Another fresh bit evident in the new spy images is an LCD console that’s identical to the one employed in the new 250 Adventure. However, its bigger sibling, the 2021 RC 390, will most likely get a colour TFT screen, similar to the new 390 Duke. As for the engine, powering the new RC 200 will certainly be the same 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that churns out 25bhp and 19Nm of peak torque with a six-speed gearbox.
The existing version of the KTM RC 200 is pegged at Rs 2.06 lakh. Considering the potential updates in its successor, we might witness a price hike of around Rs 10,000-12,000. The official launch might take place in a few weeks. Meanwhile, for those who are interested in buying the upcoming RC 390, select KTM dealers have already started accepting unofficial bookings for the same.
