Honda has started the deliveries of the new Africa Twin 1100 in India. It handed over the first bike at its Gurgaon showroom this week.
Launched in March this year, the Africa Twin 1100 replaced the 1000cc variant. The brand has been witnessing good demand and fan following over the last two years. As a result, the company decided to launch two variants – manual and DCT. The manual version was priced at Rs 15.35 lakh whereas the DCT variant demanded some premium at Rs 16.10 lakh.
The Adventure Sports variant of the 2020 Honda Africa Twin CRF1100L series packs a larger fuel tank, taller windscreen and a wider sump guard than the standard model. The Adventure Sports also gets tubeless tyre compatible wire-spoke wheels. The ride related information is available on the new 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen display that is compatible with Apple CarPlay.
Mechanical specifications comprise of a BS6 compliant 1,084cc, parallel-twin cylinder motor that produces 102bhp at 7,500rpm and 105Nm at 6,250rpm. In comparison, the BS4 motorcycle was tuned to produce 86.04bhp at 7,500rpm and 93.1Nm at 6,000 rpm. Gearbox options include a six-speed manual and a six-speed DCT system. Electronic aids include cornering ABS, rear-lift control, cruise control, wheelie control, DCT cornering detection and cornering lights. The electronics work with a six-axis inertial measurement unit.
