Aprilia has unveiled 125cc iterations of the Tuono and the RS range for the international markets. While the two motorcycles share similar underpinnings, they are distinguished through their design, colour options, and ergonomics. Here we list the top four differences between the Aprilia RS 125 and the Tuono 125.
Design
Both motorcycles feature a sharp front fascia that comprises a twin-pod full-LED headlight assembly with a DRL in the centre. The RS 125, however, gets a full-fairing design with a clear visor and fairing-mounted mirrors at the front. The Tuono 125, on the other hand, uses a semi-fairing setup with a tinted windscreen and handlebar-mounted mirrors. The windscreen on the RS 125 is larger than the unit on the Tuono 125. At the back, the sharper rear panel on the RS 125 looks sportier than the unit on the Tuono 125. Surprisingly, despite the difference in their styling, both motorcycles tip the weighing scale at 144kg (kerb).
Colours
The two motorcycles are also distinguished through their respective colour palettes. The RS 125 is available in two colour options (Aprilia Black and Sintesi Blue) while the Tuono 125 has been listed in three choices (Aprilia Black, Lightning White, and Arrow Grey). Furthermore, the chassis and the swingarm on the RS 125 get a silver finish while the Tuono 125 uses black colour for the same.
Ergonomics
The RS 125 packs a sportier setup through the use of clip-on handlebars, relatively rear-set footpegs, and split-style seats while the Tuono 125 gets a relatively tall-set handlebar, neutral-set footpegs, and a single-piece saddle. The pillion seat on the Tuono 125 is noticeably larger than the unit on the RS 125 which should make it more comfortable for the passenger. The upright ergonomics on the Tuono 125 would be ideal for city use while the sportier rider’s triangle on the RS 125 would come in handy on a racetrack.
Seat Height
Both motorcycles feature identical dimensions, although the seat height of the RS 125 is marginally higher than the Tuono 125. The saddle on the RS 125 is 820mm tall while the Tuono 125 features an 810mm seat height.
What’s common?
The Aprilia RS 125 and the Tuono 125 use the same 124.2cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 14.75bhp at 10,000rpm and 11.2Nm of peak torque at 8,000rpm. The hardware on both motorcycles comprises a six-speed gearbox with an optional quickshifter, dual-channel ABS with anti-rollover system, a digital instrument cluster, 40mm upside-down front forks, a rear mono-shock, and disc brakes (300mm front/220mm rear) on both wheels.
