- Aprilia RS660 spotted at dealership ahead of launch
- Launch details and prices unavailable yet
- Will rival the Honda CBR650R and Kawasaki Versys 650 in India
Aprilia India has remained tight-lipped about the launch details of their much awaited middleweight motorcycle, the RS660. However, we expect to hear an official announcement very soon as the motorcycle has started arriving at dealerships in the country. A unit of the new RS660 was spotted at a dealership in India, thus indicating its imminent launch. The motorcycle was previously seen through Piaggio India Chairman and Managing Director, Diego Graffi’s personal Instagram account.
The new Aprilia RS660, which is already available in several international markets, is powered by a 659cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine with a 270-degree firing order. Linked to a six-speed gearbox, the motor produces 100bhp of maximum power at 10,500rpm and 67Nm of peak torque at 8,500rpm.
The comprehensive electronics package, which works with a six-axis IMU, comprises three-level cornering ABS, adjustable wheelie control, traction control, and engine brake control. The motorcycle also benefits from a bidirectional quickshifter, a cruise control system, and five riding modes.
The motorcycle will rival the likes of Honda CBR650R and the Kawasaki Ninja 650 in the Indian market. The Italian middleweight motorcycle will most likely arrive via the completely-built-up (CBU) route and thus it should carry a premium price tag. The launch of the RS660 should be followed by the Tuono 660, although the details about that are scarce at the moment.
