- Typhoon 125 expected to be an entry-level offering
- It will be launched in March 2023
- Expected to get the new i-get Euro-5 engine
Piaggio India is celebrating 25 years of operations in India, and to mark this occasion, the company has announced the launch of multiple products in the country. And on these lines, we can confirm through our sources that the company will soon launch an all-new entry-level scooter in India in the form of the Aprilia Typhoon 125. More importantly, the Typhoon 125 will be launched in India as early as March 2023.
Aprilia retails the Typhoon 125 internationally, which is the same as the Aprilia Storm 125 that was on sale in India until last year. However, the upcoming India-spec Typhoon 125 will be an all-new model and will receive updates in the form of a new design, enhanced features list, and improved mechanicals.
In terms of features, the Aprilia Typhoon 125 could come equipped with an LED headlamp, a USB charger, and a combined braking system. However, to keep the costs low, Aprilia is unlikely to offer a fully-digital instrument cluster in the Typhoon 125. The same is available as a standard fitment in the Aprilia SR 125.
As for its mechanicals, the Aprilia Typhoon 125 is expected to be powered by Piaggio’s revamped i-get Euro-5 engine, which will be OBD-II compliant. This new motor is claimed to offer improved acceleration. As mentioned earlier, the Typhoon 125 will be positioned below the Aprilia SR 125 and is expected to be priced at around Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom).
