- Likely to be more affordable than the 450X and 450 Plus
- Could get a smaller battery and motor
- Launch timeline not known yet
Ather Energy was recently spotted testing what’s speculated to be the more affordable variant of the existing 450X and the 450 Plus electric scooters. Although the test mule was completely camouflaged, the shape of its body panels indicates that the design is identical to the existing Ather scooters.
To keep the price lower than the 450X Gen 3, Ather is likely to bestow this upcoming offering with a smaller battery and motor. Hence, the top speed and range will also be lesser. However, staying true to its ethos, Bengaluru-based EV maker might not skimp on modern features and there will certainly be a bunch of goodies like a touchscreen display, OTA updates, navigation, and much more.
With the more affordable electric scooter, Ather Energy might be going the Ola Electric way which recently launched a cheaper variant of the Ola S1 Pro. Considering the fact that the government is withdrawing all the subsidies available for EVs, the prices of electric two-wheelers are set to soar in the coming days. This is where the more affordable variant of the 450X and 450 Plus will help Ather in retaining customer interest and raking in sales.
