Bajaj took the covers off the new Pulsar N160 in India a couple of days ago. The motorcycle competes against the Suzuki Gixxer, Hero Xtreme 160R and the Yamaha FZ-S in the country. So before you head to the showroom and check the new Pulsar N160 out, here is everything you need to know about the motorcycle.
Styling
The Pulsar N160 borrows its styling and design from its bigger sibling- the Pulsar N250. At first glance, they even look alike until you notice that the N160 gets skinnier tyres to suit its displacement and segment. Nonetheless, it sports an aggressive front end that consists of an LED projector headlamp with LED DRLs, muscular tank shrouds, an edgy rear section with split seats. It even gets the signature Pulsar split LED tail lamps to complete the look.
Colours
Now Bajaj is offering the Pulsar N160 in the same colour options as the 250cc versions. There is Racing Red, Techno Grey and Caribbean Blue. But there also is a new Brooklyn Black paint scheme that sets the N160 apart.
Engine
The engine department is fairly new as well. Powering the N160 is a 164.82cc, oil-cooled, two-valve engine that produces 15.7bhp; 1bhp lesser than before. However, the peak torque is nearly the same at 14.65Nm. That said, the N160 is based on a new chassis that is similar to the Pulsar 250s, while the front and rear tyres are wider than the NS160.
Variants
The Pulsar N160 is being offered in a choice of two variants- Single Channel ABS and Dual Channel ABS.
Pricing and rivals
You can pick the Bajaj Pulsar N160 in the single-channel ABS option for Rs 1.23 lakh while the dual-channel ABS version will set you back by Rs 1.28 lakh (ex-showroom). This pricing makes it almost Rs 10,000 more affordable than the Suzuki Gixxer at Rs 1.33 lakh but is Rs 9,000 more expensive than the Hero Xtreme 160 R that costs Rs 1.14 lakh.
