- New Benelli 302R image surfaces on the internet
- Likely to be the India-bound BS6 model
- Gets a new black and white livery
A new image of the Benelli 302R fully-faired motorcycle has surfaced online which is likely to be the upcoming BS6 model of the motorcycle. Besides the BS6-bound changes in its engine, the 302R might get cosmetic updates in the form of an all-new livery.
As can be seen in the image, the fairing of the motorcycle is adorned with a combination of black and white graphics with the fuel tank being white and the tail section sporting a black paint job. A close inspection reveals an 'Anniversary' badge on the fairing which suggests it might also come as a limited edition model. Besides these changes, it remains as it is. The large front fascia with a dual headlamp setup, clip-on handlebar, chiseled fuel tank and a sleek tail section with split seats have all been retained.
The existing BS4 version of the Benelli 302R is powered by a 300cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine which produces 38.26bhp and 26.5Nm. These power figures might vary following the changes in its engine for BS6 compliance. The additional components for achieving cleaner emissions might also increase its weight. At 198kgs, the 302R is already significantly heavier than its rivals including the KTM RC 390, TVS Apache RR310 and the Kawasaki Ninja 300.
As we had reported earlier, Benelli will first launch the BS6 Imperiale 400 in India which will be followed by other BS6-compliant models. The 302R BS6 will demand a premium over its current pricing which stands at 3.10 lakh (ex-showroom). Notably, this is the pricing after Benelli had slashed it by Rs 60,000 in May 2019 due to the reduction in manufacturing costs.
