- Design patents of the Benelli 600N and Imperiale 530 surface online
- 600N will be the next-generation model of the TNT600i
- Imperiale 530 will be the larger-displacement model of the Imperiale 400
The ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has suspended almost all the operations in the global two-wheeler industry. However, the internet keeps throwing surprises at us. The latest one comes in the form of two new design patents filed by Benelli. While one of them is believed to be that of the 600N naked street bike, the other represents the Imperiale 530 modern-classic offering.
Benelli had unveiled the mildly updated model of the TNT600i at the EICMA show in November last year. The motorcycle had just received a new headlamp cluster while retaining the rest of the styling from the older model. However, the new patent reveals a substantially redesigned version of the TNT600i. It gets a low-slung, split-type LED headlamp with an angular nose fairing. The fuel tank also appears overhauled with sharper extensions.
The most significant change is the new svelte tail section which misses out on the existing under-tail exhaust setup and is replaced by an underbelly canister. In essence, this design looks like the advance version of the patent which was leaked in July last year. As for the mechanicals, the engine and chassis look nearly identical to the current-gen TNT600i which is powered by a 600cc, in-line four motor capable of producing 79.3bhp and 54.6Nm.
Another patent shows a motorcycle with a retro-inspired styling majorly similar to the Imperiale 400 which is currently on sale in India. This is likely to have a displacement of around 500cc which is larger than the Imperiale 400’s 374cc motor. While the existing smaller version makes 20bhp of power, the motorcycle in patent might churn out nearly 30bhp. On the design front, it is same as the Imperiale 400 with only difference being the presence of a single piece seat and the lack of grab rail.
Benelli’s launch timescale had surfaced on the internet in January this year which comprised of the launch duration for these two bikes. While the 600N was scheduled to debut in May, the Imperiale 530 was slated to be introduced in July. However, the current market disruption due to the spread of the COVID-19 virus might cause a delay in this plan. Also, following their international debut, expect these two motorcycles to enter into the Indian market later.
