A new Benelli scooter has been spotted undergoing trials in Pune. While Benelli had so far given no indications about its intentions of getting into the scooter segment, these spy shots confirm that the Italian marque is at the very least contemplating launching a scooter in the Indian market.
The surprising bit about this spy shot is that this prototype doesn’t resemble any of the scooters from Benelli’s current international line-up. However, one glimpse at the cycle parts makes it quite obvious that this would be a premium scooter, in the league of the upcoming Aprilia SR 150. The scooter came armed with telescopic forks, alloy wheels and a disc brake at the front. The huge fairing, windshield and the seating ergonomics indicate that Benelli might position it as a touring scooter.
Apart from this, the partially camouflaged test mule lacked any kind of detail which could disclose details about the scooter. Though Benelli scooters are globally available with a host of powertrains ranging from 50cc to 350cc, we can expect the scooter to get a 150cc engine. In case Benelli does decide to launch this scooter in India, we can safely expect it to be locally assembled like the rest of the Benelli motorcycles sold here.
