BMW has released a sketch of a new boxer-engined model that it plans to launch next year as part of its 90th anniversary celebrations. It is believed to be the BMW Roadster that has been doing the 'spy images' rounds earlier this year.
According to BMW Motorrad president Stephan Schaller, the motorcycle will reflect design cues from their first boxer model, the R 32 that went on sale in 1932. Little is known about the motorcycle except that it will have an air-cooled boxer twin powering it.
From the styling, the new model appears to be in the mould of the Ducati Diavel and Yamaha V-Max, although we're sure that it won't compete in the power stakes, but should be fairly advanced on the technology front. The sketch also shows off a trellis frame, conventional front forks and radially mounted brake callipers and rear monoshock (no doubt taken off the S1000RR), so coupled with the air-cooled engine and spoked rims, we're left scratching our heads as to where these technological marvels will be hidden.
As always, we'll just have to wait for the official details next year.
