- New intake vents are being designed into the S1000RR’s fairing
- Could replace the existing winglets for better aesthetics and the same functionality
- Design patent leaked online
BMW has been working on a bunch of new models and some of them have been spotted testing in Europe multiple times. However, that’s not it, the German bikemaker is also developing revised aerodynamics and the images for the same have leaked online.
The probable aero update could include cuts through the existing fairing rather than any more additional appendages. These ducts as seen here could sit above the headlight towards the edge of the fairing. The patent document terms these as tear-off edges and would channel the flow around the rider without creating excess drag.
Further, BMW will also opt for channelling the high pressure from the front duct in the nose area. Overall, the airflow will be channelled at a 90-degree angle from the bodywork around it. That said, the same intake duct could be introduced to other parts of the bike as well for better aero overall. These could aid in the bike’s handling and make it better while cornering too.
As of now, the updated aerodynamics is still in the early stages for the BMW S 1000 RR. It could take a while before the update is introduced to a production model.
