- New R1300 GS gets a new 145bhp engine
- Receives massive weight reduction
- India launch early next year
BMW Motorrad has finally taken the wraps off its most famous adventure bike – the new R1300 GS. For 2024, the German brand revamped every bit of this adventure motorcycle.
Regarding styling, BMW has taken a new approach with the new R1300 GS. The motorcycle looks far more compact, leaner and also a bit aggressive. The aggression on the fascia has come from the new 'X' shaped headlight the brand has used. The famous angular beak is retained on this new model, and so is that windscreen.
This big ADV is built around a new chassis, and this frame has been made using a new sheet metal. The sub-frame has been produced and welded using die-cast aluminium. This motorcycle continues to get the telelever suspension, but it has been majorly revised to offer top-class ride quality.
The R1300 GS now gets a larger engine at 1300cc. This has been achieved by giving it a larger bore, leading to an increase of 46cc. This motor gets a four-valve DOHC layout and also gets bigger valves. The famous ShiftCam variable valve timing system has been updated for better efficiency. All these changes have increased the overall power to 145bhp at 7750rpm, and the torque stands at 140NM at 6500rpm. The brand has also made this engine lighter and more compact by putting the gearbox under the engine. This has helped the brand reduce the overall length and weight by almost 4kgs. The shaft drive has also been completely redesigned, and that has saved 2.6kg. Regarding features and rider aids, the R1300 GS has everything. It has multiple riding modes, a traction control system, ABS, and dynamic cruise control. The instrument cluster is full TFT and is 6.5-inch big. The keyless system and heated grips come as standard.
The new BMW R1300 GS has a starting price of £18,465 (Rs 18.73 lakh) in the UK. The India launch is expected sometime early next year and is likely to carry a price tag of around Rs 23 lakh for the base variant, and the prices will increase as it goes up the variant lists.
