- BMW S 1000 R spotted testing again
- Gets cosmetic makeover
- Likely to be unveiled by end of 2020
BMW Motorrad is working on an all-new S 1000 R. While it has been spotted testing before, new spy images uncover some more details about the upcoming streetfighter motorcycle.
The new S 1000 R receives a complete cosmetic makeover similar to its supersport sibling, the S 1000 RR. The most noticeable change is the compact and angular headlamp which has replaced the iconic asymmetrical units on the previous variant. The fuel tank seems to be more muscular and the semi-fairing features more cuts and creases. Its tail section as well as exhaust has been borrowed from the S 1000 RR and is more compact as compared to the outgoing S 1000 R.
Underneath its refreshed styling, the new S 1000 R will employ the 999cc, inline-four cylinder engine with ShiftCam technology that does duty in the S 1000 RR. While the unit on the supersport produces 200bhp and 113Nm, the streetfighter will come with a different state of tune to match its characteristics.
BMW Motorrad is likely to showcase the new S 1000 RR by the end of this year. And, the motorcycle could make its way to India sometime in 2021.
