- BMW unveils 2021 S1000R
- Gets new styling, features and electronics
- Could be launched in India by 2021
BMW Motorrad has taken the wraps off the all-new, 2021 S1000R. The motorcycle which is now based on the latest-gen S1000RR gets major improvements in styling and features.
The most obvious change is the new headlamp that is similar to the 2021 G 310 R and F900R. Then there is the tank, radiator guard and belly pan which have been redesigned to look sharper. Whereas the new S1000R borrows its rear section and exhaust can directly from the fully-faired S1000RR. All of it sits on a brand new chassis derived from the latter.
And inside the new frame is a retuned version of the S1000RR’s 999cc, inline-four cylinder mill. It churns out 165bhp at 11,000rpm and 115Nm of torque at 9250rpm and has its focus on delivering a linear torque curve. Moreover, BMW claims that the 2021 S1000R is the lightest in its class weighing just 199kg for the base model. Customers can also shed some more weight off the motorcycle with the optional forged wheels and carbon-fiber hoops. While the S1000R offers a sporty yet upright riding position, BMW is also offering adjustable handlebars that provide a 10mm adjustment in bar position for personalized ergonomics.
In terms of features, BMW has equipped the new S1000R with a 6.5-inch TFT display. Then there is the anti-wheelie, ABS Pro with cornering capability as well as dynamic traction control. The streetfighter now comes with three riding modes instead of two as standard (Rain, Road, and Dynamic) And as always, is offering a host of optional electronic aids and accessories in its Pro, M and Carbon and Milled Parts packages.
We can expect BMW Motorrad to launch the updated S1000R in India sometime by mid-2021.
