- New S1000XR India launch this month
- Likely to be priced around Rs 20 lakh
- Gets revised bodywork
BMW Motorrad will launch their litre-class sports tourer, the S1000XR in India this month. According to our sources, the launch is expected to happen within two weeks.
The 2020 S1000XR was first showcased at the 2019 EICMA with revised bodywork, better performance and more features and tech. In fact, it continues to inherit a lot of aspects from its supersport sibling, the S1000RR.
The 1000cc four-cylinder engine on the S1000XR now makes around 165bhp at 11000rpm and a peak torque of 114Nm at 9250rpm. The six-speed gearbox transfers power to the rear wheel via a chain drive. Slipper clutch is standard. The motorcycle is equipped with new engine drag torque control and anti-hopping clutch to improve the overall riding experience. In terms of safety electronics, the new S1000XR gets multiple riding modes, ABS Pro, Hill start control and DTC. All these information is shown on the updated 6.5-inch TFT screen.
This new S1000XR is likely to be priced around Rs 20 lakh which makes it quite expensive. For that price, you also get the Ducati Multistrada 1260S which is equally powerful and equipped.
