The 2021 Ducati Monster was recently unveiled during the manufacturer’s World Premiere series. So here we bring to you all the details of the all-new Monster along with images to ogle at.
The new Ducati Monster has the same recognizable design silhouette of the Monster 821- the bike that it replaces. However, it is now sleeker.
The fuel tank has sharper lines and creases as compared to the traditionally muscular Monster tank. The tail section has undergone a nip and tuck to look svelte.
Moreover, the headlamp which has full-LED lighting is now more angular to suit the overall character of the motorcycle and the slash-cut exhausts complete the look. Ducati has also tweaked the riding triangle by positioning the handlebar closer to the rider and the footpegs slightly lower.
However, the most important upgrade is to the frame. The new Ducati Monster is the first to move away from the trellis frame that featured on all the Ducati Monsters since 1993. It uses a Panigale V4-inspired alumninum frame that is 4.5kg lighter than the one on the Monster 821. In total, Ducati has managed to reduce the weight of the new Monster by an incredible 18kg as compared to the 821.
Underneath the new frame and styling is a 937cc, Testastretta L-twin that also does duty on the Hypermotard and Multistrada 950. This motor churns out 111bhp of power at 9,250rpm and 93Nm of torque at 6,500rpm- a healthy increase over the previous model’s output of 109bhp at 9,250rpm and 86Nm at 7,750rpm.
The feature list on the 2021 Ducati Monster includes a ride-by-wire throttle, wheelie control, traction control and launch control along with three ride modes- Sport, Urban an Touring. Ducati has also equipped the Monster’s cockpit with a 4.3-inch TFT display that comes with optional Bluetooth connectivity.
In terms of suspension and braking hardware, the 2021 Monster rides on Pirelli Rosso 3 tyres with non-adjustable 43mm upside down forks and a pre-load adjustable monoshock at the back. Meanwhile, braking is done by Brembo calipers at both ends assisted by cornering ABS.
And for the customers wanting a little more flair, Ducati is offering the Monster Plus variant that comes with a fly screen and rear seat cowl as standard equipment. The colour options for the bike include- Ducati Red, Dark Stealth and Aviator Grey with GP Red wheels.
While the new Ducati Monster will be available in international markets soon, we can expect the motorcycle to reach Indian shores by mid-2021.
