Next generation KTM Duke/RC series by 2017

The Duke 200 was launched in early 2012. Since then, it has been the foundation for the higher-powered version which is the 390 Duke. The race-inspired RC series are also based off these Dukes. KTM will launch the next generation models with a new engine platform and other major changes by 2017.

KTM have been consistently updating their models over the years. Their most recent update on the RC390 features changes like the new Euro4 emission norms compliant exhaust pipe, ride-by-wire throttle and an ABS system which can be turned off. Adjustable levers along with the bigger 320mm front disc brake, and a slipper clutch which was added recently.

Stefan Pierer, CEO of KTM said that the new generation models will be based on a completely new engine platform. There is also mention of a design change of the motorcycle. We can also expect the newer model to feature the recently announced cornering ABS. This will put the KTM models ahead of the newly launched competition it’s facing.

The current generation models will likely be phased out by the end of the year. KTM will first introduce the new generation with the RC series, the new generation Dukes will follow.
