Harley-Davidson has announced the launch of the new Low Rider S in the Indian market with prices starting from Rs 14,69,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). The Indian arm of the American two-wheeler manufacturer added in the press statement that its dealerships are currently closed due to the ongoing Coronavirus situation. However, interested customers can visit the company’s official website or call the India Customer Care Centre for more information.
The new Harley-Davidson Low Rider S is built around a Softail chassis, and it comes equipped with premium suspension components than the standard model. The S version of the Low Rider family features 43mm upside-down telescopic front forks and a rear mono-shock to perform the shock absorption tasks. The standard model, on the other hand, uses conventional telescopic front forks. The company has reduced the fork rake (28 degrees vs 30-degree) as compared to the standard Low Rider model to deliver more responsive handling.
The braking setup, too, is superior to the standard motorcycle, and the Low Rider S comes equipped with dual front discs instead of a single rotor on the Low Rider.
The ergonomics are on the sportier side, and the Low Rider S features a motocross-style handlebar that delivers an aggressive riding position. Other features include a body-coloured mini-fairing around the headlight, Softail fuel tank with iconic Harley-Davidson graphic, matte dark bronze cast-aluminium wheels and a high back solo seat.
The S variant also trades chrome treated parts for a black finish. The powertrain, primary cover and tank console, for example, are finished in Wrinkle Black while the derby cover, intake, and lower rocker covers are Gloss Black. The mufflers and the exhaust shields feature a Jet Black finish. The front forks, triple-clamp, riser and handlebar, and rear fender get a Matte Black finish. The dark theme is also carried to the LED layback taillamp that gets a smoked lens. The new Harley-Davidson Low Rider S is available in two colour options – Vivid Black and Barracuda Silver.
The Milwaukee-Eight 114, 1,868cc, V-Twin engine produces 92.5bhp of maximum power and 155Nm of peak torque. The motor features a dual internally counter-balanced system that aims to reduce engine vibration. The engine is linked to a six-speed gearbox. Optional extras include dealer-installed Screamin’ Eagle Performance Parts Stage Upgrades to boost engine performance further.
