- The new model is based on the current Sportster line
- Will use the manufacturer’s latest Revolution Max engine
- Teaser images reveal it to be a cruiser-styled model
After the Pan America 1250 and the Sportster S, Harley-Davidson has now lined up its third model using the Revolution Max motor to debut on April 12. It’ll be a new variant of the Sportster bloodline.
The teaser images reveal that the new Sportster variant will get a tad different styling than the current S model. Instead of the horizontal LED strip headlight, it gets a proper retro-looking round unit with a small visor above. With that being said, it also seems to have tweaked ergonomics which are better suited for cruising.
Further details like bar-end mirrors, telescopic forks, twin rear springs, a single-seat setup, a traditional tail and a low slung exhaust mount are also visible in the teaser video. With that being said, it’s yet to be seen whether the new model will use the same 1250cc Revolution Max that has powered the aforementioned models or will it be replaced with the 975cc unit.
Harley-Davidson had also trademarked the ‘Nightster’ nametag last year in a bid to revive it. Now, there has been no development on it since then, but it seems that the new Sportster variant could use the name.
Given its components (visible in the teaser) and if it gets a smaller motor, we expect Harley Davidson to price it notably lower than the Sportster S which retails at Rs 15.51 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
